Weekend Review

I am exhausted after this weekend.  It consisted of extremely late nights and fairly early mornings.  Ok, not really "early" mornings, but when you are staying up until 2 or 3 several nights in a row, you need a day to majorly sleep in.

Friday night Mallory came over and we made cupcakes for my friend Charli's B'day on Saturday.  They were soooo cute!  I'm going to post a picture of them as soon as I get a copy.  Because we didn't start making the cupcakes until 11pm, we were up until 2:30 trying to get them finished.  When it comes to stuff like that I am so detailed oriented.  I needed the colored sprinkles (but not the little ball ones).  The only ones I found had brown sprinkles mixed in with all of the pretty colors :(  I mentioned to Mallory while we were at Wal-Mart that we would have to pick the brown ones out (They just didn't make them look as good).  Mallory laughed.  I guess she thought I was kidding..... but I wasn't :)  So one by one, we picked them out.  Mallory had no idea what she was getting into when she agreed to help.  Oh, and it took 2 and a half hours to make about 20 cupcakes.  But once you see how cute they were, you will understand!

Then Saturday morning we got up and went to our friends Brent and April Cooper's house to watch the Bama game.  They are the cutest little married couple ever and I love them!  Charli learned how to give a head massage in "beauty school" this past week and so all of the girls lined up to let her "practice."  Once her school salon opens up, I'll probably be there every week getting a shampoo, or whatever service I can come up with, just so I can get the complementary head massage that comes with it.  They are amazing!

This is a picture of all of the girls.

Me, Mal, and Mary Beth

My friend Charli has been on the mission field for the past two years.  She just recently got back.  She is the most mission oriented person I have ever met.  She's actually going to beauty school so that she can take that back overseas.  She loves people from other countries and seems to know every non-American in Birmingham.  I always tell her she has this secret life with her other friends.  She is very fluent in Spanish and loves hanging out with Spanish speaking people.

Charli is the one who introduced us to Salsa dancing.  Unfortunately for Charli, salsa is only once a month, but lucky for her it was this past Saturday night which was also on her birthday.  She is a Salsa queen!  As for the rest of us though, we are just white people who are trying to look like we fit in.  It doesn't take long for everyone to see that we are not really regulars in the salsa department.  But we still have so much fun doing it!

This is Charli's friend from beauty school.  I had to have a picture with her.

Oh yeah, and she stands on a tripod.  It's very disturbing, I know!

I tried several times to get a good "car" pic.  But it never seemed to work out.

We didn't get home until 2:30 in the morning.  Then got up and went to church on Sunday morning.  I was so zoned out all day.

On Sunday nights we do this new thing called Link.  It's not new to everyone else, but it is new to me.  Everyone gets together (college and singles) and eats and then someone shares their testimony.  It's so neat to hear about these people that we know, but we really don't know them.
We also got in groups and everyone planned a mission opportunity for all of the groups to do.  We start those in October.  I've had so much fun hanging out with these people over the past few months!
I know that I am definitely back in B'ham for a reason!

Rammer Jammer!

This weekend was exhausting, but so much fun!  Friday night I went to the lake with the fam and two friends.  Then on Saturday morning my dad invited several of the college/singles up for the day.  All of them went on a mission trip together in the Spring, so it was a "hang out" time for them to catch up and just have fun.  I'm glad it was at our house so I could be a part of it.  I have seriously grown to love all of these people!

Around 3 me and my friend Charli headed to Tuscaloosa for the Bama game!  It was so exciting!  I made my friend Maggie give me a copy of her Alabama Gameday CD.  It has all of the songs and cheers that are done at the games.  I was a little rusty, but that didn't last very long.

This is Alabama football!  I love it!

Saturday night we did not leave Tuscaloosa until 12am and got home around 1.  I woke up Sunday morning and headed over to Atlanta with my mom, dad, sis, and sister's friend to take my sister's official senior pictures.  I am sooo excited about these because they were so cute!  I can't wait to share some of them!

On a different note, this has been such an emotional week, and there has been a lot of randomness going on.  Please keep praying about my job situation.  It seems like God just keeps shutting doors.  I'm a little stressed because there are not many doors that are even options at this point.

P.S.  I have no idea why some of my typing is underlined and blue!  No idea how to change it!

I love surprise parties!

Last week we had a surprise birthday party for my friend Mallory.  It was a very thrown together thing (we only had a few days to plan it), that turned out great!!!!  She was so surprised, which always makes it worth it!

Here are a few pics.....

I highly recommend Costco cakes.  They are very tasty!  The decor is not the greatest so we just ordered a plain cake and then decorated it.

Happy Birthday Mal!!!!

Love these girls!  Me, Mal, Charli, and April

The Whole Group!

We blew up 150 balloons.  Mal let 23 go in honor of her 23rd birthday!

Swimming at Grammy's

I went swimming with my cousin and her kids the other day at my grandparents house.  When they moved into this house, we were around the same age as Kaley.  That's so weird!

The Beach

The trip to the beach was wonderful, despite a few glitches from Hurricane Gustav.  We headed down Thursday night so that we could have all day on Friday to spend on the beach.  The weather was amazing Friday and Saturday.  Sunday was another story.  The weather never got really bad, it was just that nasty overcast stuff.  Every once in a while it would down pour, but never anything serious.

Because we weren't really sure what the hurricane was going to do, the leadership decided to pack everything up and cancel our last session :(  In the midst of a panic, we decided that we would leave too.  We assumed everyone would be packing up and going home.  Well on our way out (after packing all of our stuff up) we stopped to eat.  While we were eating we decided that we really didn't want to go home yet and we wanted to just ride it out.  So we went back, unloaded all of our stuff, and stayed through Monday.  The weather was not pretty on Monday, but it never got bad.  It really ended up being a great rest day!  And a lot more people stayed than what we thought.

Here are a few pictures....
Charli and I decided to head out to the beach Sunday night.  The waves were amazing!  We saw some people taking some cool pictures so we decided to try and take our own.  That's what the black and white picture of me is all about.  I wasn't just trying to be a model!
